About Healthy People Nutrition
I'm Claudia Smith and I set up Healthy People Nutrition after completing my diploma in Nutritional Therapy.
I have experienced the incredible impact of diet and lifestyle on chronic health problems myself, and now I would like to help you on your journey towards better health.
How did I end up in this field?
Health and well-being, mine and yours, is a true passion of mine. I have always enjoyed talking to somebody about their health, but in this case it was my own that has led me to become a Nutritional Therapist.
I suffered from chronic eczema on my hands almost right after birth and for about twenty six years. I also developed hay fever as a teenager and then started experiencing sharp hip pain in my early twenties. I remember many feelings of desperation and frustration in all those years: How much worse was my health going to get? Wasn't I eating a relatively good diet? Will I never be truly healthy?
Move a year or two forward and after a lot more knowledge gained on bodily systems and the impact of nutrition, and I now rarely experience any of these symptoms. It really is incredible: Provide your unique body with the right foods, exercise, sleep, relaxation etc. and your body can actually start to heal itself! Truly remarkable and yet very natural, and something I want to share with you.
I have spent three years studying with the UK based Natural Healthcare College.
- Diploma in Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy; including supervised Clinical Practice
- Diploma in Nutritional Therapeutics
- Diploma in Nutritional Advice
I am registered with the CNHC- the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council. The CNHC was set up by the government to register and regulate complementary healthcare practitioners. Its sole purpose is to protect the public from poorly trained or performing practitioners.
Each year and as part of my membership with the NNA (a professional body for Nutritional Therapists) I attend CPD events, read journals and partake in webinars to keep my knowledge and practice up-to-date. Nutritional Therapy and the field of functional medicine is evolving rapidly!
